焼成時(登り窯)に薪の灰が付着し窯変した朝鮮唐津の徳利です。
窯変とは、窯を焚いている最中に投げた薪の灰の中にわざと落として(倒して)釉薬の変化を狙います。反面、失敗のリスクも負いますが火と灰が生み出す意図しない景色が魅力です。
朝鮮唐津は藁灰釉と飴釉の二種類の釉薬を掛けて、窯の中で一番温度の上がるところで焼きます。難易度が一番高く、ひと窯に入れられる数も限られる釉薬です。
この徳利はその二種類の釉薬をランダムに掛けています。
それが高温で混じり合い、さらに窯変してなんとも言えない景色・質感となりました。

This is a tokkuri (vessel for sake) with the iconic duo-tone glaze traditional to Karatsu-ware. The textures and colors of the surface are only achievable through specific conditions during the wood firing. This piece is placed in a position in the kiln that reaches the highest temperatures, making its outcome unpredictable.
